Head of Platform Operations & Reliability
Mansell Taylor Consulting is proud to partner with Transmax to appoint a Head of Platform Operations & Reliability, responsible for the performance, resilience, and scalability of enterprise platforms.
This is a senior leadership role combining strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership across cloud, infrastructure, and platform services.
The opportunity
You will lead platform operations across AWS, Kubernetes, and hybrid environments, ensuring platforms are secure, reliable, and operating at scale.
The role will drive the adoption of modern practices, improve service performance across all existing and new customers in both on-prem and cloud environments, and support a broader transition to cloud operating models.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead platform operations, infrastructure, and SRE teams
- Own reliability, availability, and performance across environments
- Embed SRE practices (SLOs, incident response, error budgets)
- Oversee cloud (AWS), Kubernetes, networking, and platform services
- Drive FinOps and cost optimisation practices
- Lead service management (incident, problem, change, SLAs)
- Support legacy-to-cloud transition and operational readiness
- Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and governance requirements
- Partner with architecture, engineering, and product teams
About you
- Proven experience leading platform operations or SRE functions at scale
- Strong background in AWS, Kubernetes, and hybrid environments
- Experience driving reliability, resilience, and operational performance
- Leadership of engineering or infrastructure teams
- Experience with FinOps, vendor management, and service delivery
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and risk
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive outcomes
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience
