We're looking for an experienced Engineering Lead, Lead .NET Developer or hands-on Development Manager to lead a team of five while remaining approximately 80% hands-on.
Working directly with the CEO, you'll have responsibility for your team and play a key role in the ongoing development of an established customer-facing platform as well as new products. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and development of the team while continuing to design, build and deliver software yourself.
What you'll do
• Lead and manage a team of five software developers
• Design and develop customer-facing software using C# and .NET/.NET Core
• Turn business requirements into well-designed technical solutions
• Build new functionality and modernise an established .NET platform
• Design APIs, integrations and scalable applications
• Work across SQL Server, Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
• Conduct code reviews and drive strong engineering practices
• Balance new development with platform stability, technical debt and risk
• Introduce and use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency
About you
You're a strong .NET engineer who has already had genuine responsibility for leading a software development team and wants to remain close to the code.
You'll bring:
• Proven experience leading and managing software developers
• Strong commercial C# and .NET/.NET Core development experience
• Strong SQL Server experience
• Experience designing and building complex customer-facing software
• API design and integration experience
• Azure DevOps and CI/CD experience
• Experience maintaining and modernising established software products
• Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders
Experience with Angular or another modern front-end framework, Azure, GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools, mobile applications, Secure SDLC or OWASP would be advantageous.
